Child ID Services
DNA is the ultimate identifier. Every day, we hear and read about how DNA is being used to positively identify people for a variety of reasons, including:
- Children mistakenly switched in the hospital at birth
- Missing children
- Disaster victims
- Lost relatives
- Perpetrators of crime
DDC provides DNA testing and DNA banking for these and other reasons. Please call one of our trained DNA experts to discuss your specific need.
Child ID: Suspected Baby Switch/Nursery Confirmation
This option is for those parents who want to ensure that the baby they are holding is theirs—such as in the instance of a suspected baby switch in the hospital. Many people get home and look at a child and wonder if they brought home the right baby. In some reported cases, mothers have voiced their concerns while at the hospital, but did not get the chance to find out the truth until years later. Be sure. Get a simple, painless DNA test and never wonder again.
DDC also works with some forward-thinking hospitals to collect a DNA swab from infants at birth, to have on file in case an accidental switch is suspected. DDC can run testing in as fast as 24 hours to get answers to hospital staff quickly and quietly. If you want information on this service, simply call 1-800-681-6583.
Child DNA Banking
This option is for those parents who would like to take an extra measure of protection for their child. You can bank a sample of your child’s DNA at DDC’s secure banking facility, to serve as a valuable reference in the event that it is needed; for example, when a child goes missing. It can prove useful in examining clues about the trail of a missing loved one.
With DNA Banking, you will receive a certificate stating the storage period and the names of persons you authorize to retrieve and/or use the DNA samples.
Child DNA Profile
This service is usually purchased as an upgrade to our Child DNA Banking service. You can choose to have a complete DNA profile for your child—a permanent genetic ID that can be kept on file together with your important documents.
